808s & Heartbreak

Just got the new Kanye album 808s & Heartbreak.. I gotta give it to this guy, he’s channeled Phil Collins into this album and completely changed his sound and song content. It’s true! Heartbreak can really change a man. This album is ten tracks talking shit about an ex, one track devoted to dealing with his realization of being a lonely dude with a bunch of houses and sports cars, and one track devoted to his late mother. This is as close to a millionaire canary picking at the bars of a solid gold cage as you can get. Great album, this shit is amazing. Oh and Kaws has last minute done some additions to the cover art.

STUDIO NEWWORK just updated their site. I love their use of negative space and type… Definitely some of the best typography going on right now. If you haven’t seen their magazine simply titled “NEWWORK”, and you’re interested in art and/or graphic design I suggest you check it out..

The subway in Japan still baffles me.. Somehow I managed to get from Hanaeda to the hotel.. No idea how I did it… The only part I somewhat understand is the big circle for the JR Yamanote line.

Staying at Hotel Claska. This place is amazing, one of the cooler spots I have stayed at..It’s in this mellow area of Tokyo called “Meguro”.. Quite and full of art galleries, design studios, and cool furniture spots.

Walked around a bit tonight, and cruised over to Harijuku.. Right in time for the Salarymen to get off work!

What a combination.

Tommy Lee Jones is the BOSS in Japan.

A legitimate Harley bobber.

The view from the top of the hotel.
More photos to come!

The good ol’ Rapi-t in Osaka

Everytime I come to Japan I get one of these right when I land.. They are basically amazing.. It is some rich almost syruppy coffeee.. some of the most potent stuff around.

Met up with Ephraim, Saki & Ryuji for some good ol’ dirty BBQ. Super so good. Forgot my camera so took iPhone pics..

They had really big mugs there. Ephraim helping Saki drink.

Ephraim hard at work in his Awaza studio. If you like Capita, this is the man, the myth, the legend behind a large chunk of those great board graphics.

So I got a snack at the airport in Osaka, and this was the pack of sauce they gave me.. Doesn’t that drawing look like a steaming pile of poo???

Off to Tokyo.

R. Kelly has gone and done it again.. Another banger of an album. I have loved R&B pretty much secretly since I was 8 when I got a New Edition album..”Cool it Now” was my song that opened up the doors to R&B.
But on to this new R. Kelly album.. Amazing.. Lyrics from “Might Be Mine” go like this… “Damn, I should have used protection……” ”I got a call from Tamika’s lawyer…” ”I went on to tell em’ that I hit it raw.” ..
Thank you R. Kelly for making yet another amazing album, you truly are the king of R&B.
