Bruce Parry’s “Tribe”

Just started watching a great BBC documentary called “Tribe”… An interesting part of each episode is when Bruce experiments with hallucinagens from each tribe he visits… He then gives a little critique on what he feels. The common theme through out each cosmic mind bender journey is that each tribes social lubricant is a drug that increases empathy towards others and the world in general, and then let’s you reflect on all the wrong doings you’ve done in your life…. Now fancy that! A drug that betters you as a person!

This little VBS documentary is great proof of the Black Lips shredability when it comes to, 50 rupee Sizzurp, Cashmir Hash, and Full Frontal Nudity. All these fun times eventually get them kicked out of India. Love it.

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, Visual Acoustics explores the monumental career of 98-year-old architectural photographer, Julius Shulman. Populating his photos with human models and striking landscapes, Shulman combined the organic with the synthetic, melding nature with revolutionary urban design. The resulting images helped to shape the careers of some of the greatest architects of the 20th Century, with Shulman documenting the work of Richard Neutra, Rudolph Schindler, Pierre Koenig, John Lautner, and many others.

Well Well Well, I went to the premier of Thomas Campbell’s new movie “The Present” twice this weekend. Once on Friday evening, and then again last night. Overall, a really great little film full of inspiring little nuggets.

The Mattson 2 along with Ray Barbee played for about an hour before the movie started as well.. I always love watching these guys play guitar.. If I can someday play the guitar half as good as them I’ll be a happy man!
Check out this Mattson 2 song from their newest album “Introducing The Mattson 2″:

On another note. Gardening rules. Check out Barrels & Branches in Encinitas. I loaded up with a variety of succulents, cacti, a serrano tomato plant, some bell pepper plants, and a bunch of cilantro. Let it grow!

Anvil: The Story of Anvil
/ February 21, 2009 /

From the Sundance Film Festival program:
“At 14, Toronto school friends Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, went on to become the “demigods of Canadian metal,” releasing one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982’s Metal on Metal. The album influenced a musical generation, including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, that went on to sell millions of records. But Anvil’s career took a different path - straight to obscurity.
Director Sacha Gervasi has concocted a wonderful and often hilarious account of Anvil’s last-ditch quest for elusive fame and fortune. His ingenious filmmaking may first lead you to think this a mockumentary, but it isn’t. Gervasi joined the legendary heavy-metal band as a roadie for a tour of Canadian hockey arenas, so he has intimate insight into the members’ eccentricities. It’s fascinating to see the reality of their day-to-day lives as they struggle to make ends meet, take a misguided European tour, and engage in antics on the road - which is not always lined with fans. Gervasi even finds a softer center to this raucous film, introducing us to band members’ ever-supportive, but long-suffering, families. At its core, Anvil! The True Story of Anvil is a timeless tale of survival and the unadulterated passion it takes to follow your dream, year after year. Anvil rocks - it has no other choice.”
